Occupying less than 16 inches across the front of your lab bench, the QMicro is significantly smaller than the MS/MS systems you are familiar with. The atmospheric pressure ionization source features Waters Z-Spray™ technology, which allows analyses of complex mixtures like biological or environmental matrices for extended periods between cleanings.
Original product literature from Waters demonstrates a linear range that covers 5 orders of magnitude and an RMS S/N > 30/1 for 500 femtograms of material on column. Billed by Waters as a “smarter” LC/MS/MS, the QMicro incorporates technology for independent data-driven-acquisition (DDA). In other words, the instrument can dynamically decide which LC peaks contain interesting ions requiring further analysis. The mass range for QMicro 2 – 2000 amu in both positive and negative detection modes.
The LC portion of this instrument is the rugged and reliable Waters Alliance 2795 HPLC with a Waters 2996 photodiode array (PDA) detector. This LC/MS/MS is suitable for both qualitative and quantitative applications on a wide variety of molecules ranging from small molecule pharmaceuticals and their metabolites to biological molecules such as peptides and nucleic acids.
